I am NOT understanding how the ways these two coped with their issues and them not being good together correlate. And being as though it’s already been stated in chapter 450 that Orihime was able to smile and talk freely about her past because of Ichigo..I’m really not understanding this.

There goes that word ‘obsession’ again. Good Lord, the girl has actively rejected depending on Ichigo time and time again, gave him space even though she was concerned about him (even though she could feel his reiatsu, see HERE <—Chapter 222) and has never pushed her feelings on him. NOT ONCE. The boy doesn’t even know after 10 years real time. Where is this obsession? Because she loves him unconditionally? Because she has sacrificed life and limb for him more times than I can ever count and has him in a special place than the rest of her friends? I thought that’s what one does with the one they’re in love with. Obsession is when someone cannot stop doing something or being attracted to someone to the point of where they can’t do anything else. And Orihime has a job, friends, her own place, developed her powers, got over her self-esteem issues and is STILL in love with Ichigo all at the same time. That argument is invalid.

the reason i brought up all that stuff about coping was to show how the two characters are Foils. Rather Orihime is a foil to Ichigo (this got cut out cause my ramble was too long- figures really).  Foils are suppose to highlight characteristics of the other character. And to me- what Ichigo and Orihime highlight in each other are not their super-bestest qualities.

both times hime in-advertenly brings something negative onto Ichigo- and while the second time is not her fault- the first time kinda is.

She does make improvements though, to not ‘burden’ Ichigo,( and things like trying to protect sushigwara and avenge Ishida). its just those things also kinda backfire on her.

I’m not the one forcing Orihime (and Chad) to inadverdently end up as baggage for Ichigo. It’s KUBO. At the end of the day- what Ichi brings out in Ori and vice versa- haven’t really been peachy happy go lucky- just not to me anyways. 

As for the whole ‘obsessed’ word that bugged you so much? you’re right- that isn’t the right word to use. -Orihime isn’t obsessed- Ichigo is just the sun that she revolves around. I.E. all her most significant feelings wrap again and again around Ichigo, at least that’s what I see. And while, that is ‘love’ for you- it doesn’t feel like that for me. It feels like Longing- a painful kind of longing that hasn’t budged a inch into a response from the person that is longed after. If you see her, and her prospects with him differently- that’s great- glad you love your ship. Its just that we all look at characters differently to an extent because we’re all different people.

Let me preface this by saying that I’m not pissed whatsoever. I didn’t understand how the way these two coped with their own issues, THEIR OWN issues, meant that they weren’t good for each other. But since you said some of your post was deleted (which I understand), maybe I didn’t get the full picture. But according to your most recent post..I’m sorry but I’m still not understanding. And here’s why:

I refuse to say that Orihime did something wrong for crying out to Ichigo for help. She didn’t expect it, she didn’t think that Ichigo would in fact get up and do something. She was out of her mind and clung to the one thing that was giving her sanity. Her mental trauma was such that she didn’t understand anything, SHE STATED AS MUCH. She didn’t call out because she wanted Ichigo to physically help her out, she called out in desperation to open air because she didn’t know what else to do. Everything she did do (shield Ishida, heal Ichigo,) was not working because she wasn’t in the right state of mind. And that wasn’t Ichigo’s fault. Nor was it hers. 

Per Chapter 456, I’m sorry but that is not fair to Orihime. She was underneath brainwashing and Ichigo had to watch just about EVERYONE he cared about turn against him. Does that mean that all of them brought something negative onto Ichigo ergo they’re bad friends and family to them? Tsukishima’s power was something serious, it’s not right to blame Orihime and she alone for something she had absolutely no control over.

Chapter 459 gets the same response. You’re going to blame someone, blame Ginjou and Tsuskishima for taking away the powers he needed to protect and causing that reaction. That is not Orihime’s fault in any way, shape or form. She was underneath something more powerful than her, they ALL were. And while it did piss me off that she was taken out the game before helping out Ichigo more like she wanted to, again, that’s not her fault.

Chapter 430: Umm..you’ve never fangirled over someone you had a crush on, much moreso if you were in love with? Orihime loves Ichigo partly because of his kindness and his thoughtfulness, and he showed both that in chapter 429. What is not to be happy about? I know I’ve imagined my significant other as even more hotter than usual. Hell I called him a Greek God once (lol) It doesn’t mean that Orihime is in love with the fantasy of Ichigo. She’s seen him at his worse, seen him fail at things he’s wanted to do and her feelings have remained. Two fantasies doesn’t negate that.

Chapter 449: She returned his thanks when she told him not to worry about her in the same chapter. And in chapter 450 she sat by the sidelines to heal whatever injuries he would sustain. AND IN CHAPTER 449, she healed said injuries and protected him from Ginjou’s attack with a new move! I mean..she backed up what she said 10 fold. I don’t see this forcing herself to accept anything when she kept her promise and then some. And especially since she has always wanted to protect Ichigo since the SS Arc.

There are many, many things that Ichigo has brought out of Orihime and vice-versa that are positive. That one chapter where she fangirls over him or he is affected by her brainwashing is baseless compared to chapter 225, where she saw Ichigo getting stronger and vowed to do as well. In chapter 58, where it was Orihime’s words who strengthened his resolve to save Rukia. Where in chapter 164, where she had to literally stop herself from helping Ichigo in the Byakuya/Ichigo fight. In chapter 62 where she wanted to go to SS to protect Ichigo. Chapter 283, where it was because of her that he was able to turn the tables and defeat Grimmjow. In chapter 237 where she left for HM to keep him (and co., yes) safe from harm. Chapter 449 states that she trained 17 months to fight alongside him if and when he got his powers back. I mean..a fantasy and brainwashing does not negate the things she has done because of and for him and the things he has done because of her.

You’re absolutely right that we all have our different views on these characters. But I am an Orihime fan first, IchixHime fan second. And I want my girl to be happy. And Ichigo makes her happy. When you’re in love with someone, you want to protect that person, put that person’s health and life above yours, and that’s not something that’s negative. Orihime is all of 17 years old and yet she’s proven that her love and feelings are well beyond her years. There’s nothing that she wouldn’t do and hasn’t done for this boy and he doesn’t even know yet. And yes, while it’s crazy that Ichigo doesn’t know after 10 years real time, the boy is dense. That’s something Kubo has done and will probably do until the end of Bleach. Will he return her feelings? That’s something only Kubo can say. But it’s what these two have shared that makes me believe that he will.

Relationships are never peachy-fun all the time; it’s going to have hardships. It’s going to have tests and trials and bring pain. But that’s what brings the two closer. And I’ve seen that happen with IchixHime since the 17 month timeskip.
